In its 54th edition, Sehsüchte is dedicated to a new generation of filmmakers in a transforming film culture.

The 54th edition will take place from April 23rd to 27th, 2025 at the Waschhaus
Potsdam, the T-Werk Potsdam, the Filmmuseum Potsdam and the Film University
Babelsberg. With Sehsüchte, we set new impulses every year and offer a diverse
festival program consisting of international films, workshops, panels, live pitches,
masterclasses and media innovations.

In its 54th edition, Sehsüchte is dedicated to a new generation of filmmakers in a
transforming film culture. In the centre of the traditional film city of Potsdam, the
festival acts as a platform to present innovative and courageous works. At a time
when not only the cultural sector but the entire reality of life is characterised by
upheaval, we create a space for encounters in which creativity is encouraged and
celebrated. Our programme offers local and international filmmakers a canvas,
allows us to experience (un)known perspectives through a variety of cinematic and aesthetic forms of expression and promotes discourse between underrepresented and established film regions.

With a festival campus centred on Schiffbauergasse, Sehsüchte opens up a space for exchange and promotes dialogue between students and industry experts. We see ourselves as a young festival with a clear attitude: only through communication at eye level can the challenges of the industry be overcome, an awareness of ecological and social resources be created and, above all, an open culture of film be shaped.

Under the motto beyond, in the 54th edition we are increasingly focussing on
exchange and close networking within the film industry in order to jointly transcend the boundaries of previous thinking and creation.
