Special | Next Generation Short Tiger
For the 14th time, the FFA and GERMAN FILMS invite you to discover exceptional short films and new talents for cinema. SHORT TIGER NEXT GENERATION 2024 is the selection of the eleven best productions from German film schools and young directors. Jury members Sophie Linnenbaum (director of THE ORDINARIES, 2023 / winner of SHORT TIGER 2017), Alexandra Gramatke (Managing Director of KurzFilmAgentur Hamburg) and Christian Bräuer (Managing Director of Yorck-Kino GmbH) have decided which films should be included in this year’s selection and have awarded five short films the FFA Short Film Prize SHORT TIGER 2024. The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros, which is available to the winners for the preparation or production of a new film.
The aim of the initiative is to raise public awareness of short films. The filmmakers are given a platform to present their work at cinemas in Germany and at industry events abroad throughout the year. We are excited that numerous short filmmakers will be present at the screening.
After premiering the program at Sehsüchte and Filmfest Dresden, GERMAN FILMS will send the films on an international tour, the first stop being the festival in Cannes in May 2024. The five FFA Short Tiger winning films can be booked by German cinemas via the Short Film Agency Hamburg.

Ich Darf Sie Immer Alles Fragen (I May Always Ask Her Anything)

The line between the need to investigate and the desire for healing becomes blurred. The short documentary is an attempt to find a shared language for the unspeakable consequences of child sexual abuse within one’s own family.

Sensitive Content
Behind the “sensitive content”, this symbol of the crossed-out eyes, two real eyes have been erased by the violence in the Middle East. This Deep Blur video is about the eyewitnesses who do not look away, who remain there, with their fainting eyes and their trembling hands, recording the “sensitive content.” They are risking their lives, fighting for visibility.
