Which Sehsüchte event suits you?
With over 80 events, it can be hard to decide what not to miss at Sehsüchte, Europe’s largest international student film festival. Here we give you a guide: whether you’re interested in screenwriting, in love with scenography, wanting to spend a nice day with your kids or about to start your own career in the film industry, everyone will find a home at the 51st Sehsüchte.
For all those with an affinity for the arts…
…experience new media in the exhibition: Beyond the frame in Studio 2 of the Filmuni. Artists from all over the world bring creative stories to life with modern technologies. Organized and set up by students of the Creative Technology programme at Filmuniversity Babelsberg. Don’t miss it: The exhibition opens on Thursday at 11:30am on the panel stage and can be visited throughout the festival.
For all scenography enthusiasts…
…you can experience a feeling for interior design in our film block Enough with all that Green Screen, because in this shortlist the scenographers do their profession justice. Sunday is dedicated to the winning films, as well as many other shortlists, such as Enough with all that mansplaining or Enough with all that hustle. What have you had enough of? Find out on Sunday!
For all those interested in world politics…
…an important subject plays a role on Friday at 5 p.m. in Kino 1, where the Im Focus: Ukraine film block, shows the documentary Heller Weg. The film addresses cruelties of the occupiers of Ukraine and how they take place uncommented next to Europe. Proceeds from this event will be donated to victims of the war in Ukraine.
For young filmmakers…
… at Sehsüchte this year definitely consists of the Schreibsüchte event Pitch! on Saturday at 12 p.m. in Kino 3. Young selected filmmakers pitch their new film projects live, afterwards the jury chooses a winning project. Do you already have a concrete film idea in mind or would you like to meet other filmmakers? Come to the Speed Dating for filmmakers on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the panel stage. On Friday you can choose between the workshop Starter Kit – Film Business from Ver.di or the workshop Show me the Money on the topic of film funding and Hollywood (or Babelsberg) is no longer in the way.
For all those out and about with children and teenagers…
… you have to come to our free Future screenings. In the children’s and youth film blocks for ages from 6 and 12 years, international filmmakers show a wide variety of genres and then answer questions from the audience.
For all Potsdam lovers…
… in the middle of the city of Potsdam, the Filmkulturerbe programme shows a curated selection from the extensive film archive of the Filmuniversity Babelsberg, thus curating an exciting retrospective. Friday is Retro-Day beginning at 6 p.m. at the Filmmuseum!
For all sports fans...
… must participate in our active breaks. Whether line dance, Zumba or yoga, our trainers from the Academic Sports Center will loosen up your muscles after and before going to the movies.
For those who are bored with the big screen…
… should visit our 360° Space in the atrium of the Filmuniversity Babelsberg, the home of our festival. Here, 5 competition films can be seen through VR goggles, and two more films that run out of competition.
For all friends of the written word…
… visit our Schreibsüchte event Kopfkino on Thursday evening in Kino 1. Here, excerpts from the scripts of the screenplay competition will be read by speakers and actors. What images do they create in your head? Creative minds are also welcome at our audible workshop: Introduction to Audiobook Writing, which will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. in Kinos 3.
For all party people…
… it’s party time after our awards ceremony on Saturday evening. Come by and celebrate young filmmakers with us. With a daily negative Corona test certificate you even get a free shot at the RaiDANCE at our bar.
