Sehsüchte, the 49th annual student film festival, will take place from the 22nd to the 26th April 2020 in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany under the motto 20:20 Vision. As the largest student film festival in Europe we serve as an important platform for young filmmakers, providing the opportunity to network within the industry and making the best works of young talents from around the world accessible to a broad audience.
Every year Sehsüchte attaches great importance to a varied and innovative programme, which reflects both the themes of young international film artists and the diversity of the media landscape.
We invite all young filmmakers worldwide to submit their films in the following categories:
- Feature Film (min. 40 min)
- Short Film (max. 40 min)
- Documentary Film (any length)
- Animation (any length)
- Future: Kids (Children’s films / any length)
- Future: Teens (Teen films / any length)
- Focus Production (German films / exceptional production / any length)
- 360° (min. 2 min)
Submission period: 12.11.2019 – 07.01.2020
Film submission is possible online via the portal festhome.com.
In the section Focus Production a number of production documents must be sent to email@example.com in addition to the submission of the film. In the section 360° works must be sent via download link (WeTransfer, MyAirBridge or the like) together with the completed PDF application to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For the section Schreibsüchte the following is accepted:
- unproduced German scripts over 45 min. for the Schreibsüchte Screenplay Award.
Furthermore, there will be a Pitch! Competition during the festival where the best draft of a film or a television show will be awarded as Best Pitch. Submissions are open for:
- unproduced film and TV material drafts up to max. 10 A4-size pages.
Exhibition: Beyond the Frame
For our Exhibition: Beyond the Frame we are looking for innovative projects using modern technologies in a creative manner. In our Exhibition Space we strive to present novel forms of storytelling, digital media art and audiovisual performances. For more information click here.
The winning films are chosen by our expert juries. The winners will receive high cash and non-cash prizes (with the exception of the Genre Award, which is chosen by the audience).
