Retrospektive VERMISCHT

22. April 20:00h until 22:00h at Kino Filmmuseum

Light is the raw material of film: the world beam into the camera, is projected onto the silver screen and reflected into the cinema theatre. In doing so the spectrum of the film projection illuminates social structures, bringing that which is hidden to the fore and giving the familiar new light. Because of these properties there have always been attempts to influence the radiance of films from the outside.

The retrospective Mischlicht concerns itself with the effects of external influences on the creative filming processes at the film university. Two programmes present student documentaries, that faced attempts at interference. They were censored or even banned. This look into the past sheds light on the limits of the independence of documentary work.

Energieland

Energieland

Energieland takes a look at the controversial energy transition in the Brandenburg region from various perspectives. In doing so the film shines a light on the relationship between democracy and commerce. We ask: How independent can documentary film remain, when it is increasingly funded by the private sector?
